Scholarship

 

The youth scholarship is an award of $250.00* given to eligible members upon reaching their senior year in high school.   The purpose of the scholarship is to provide funds to a youth attending a credited college or trade school.  The scholarship provides funds paid directly to the institution in order to defray cost of college expenses.   The application is open beginning April 1, and ending May 31, of the year awarded.  Applications must be received before June 1 to be considered for the scholarship for that year.   The award will be decided by the current youth director under advisement of the DQHA Board of Directors.  There are no limitations to the number of applicants that apply, but they must meet the following qualifications.

 

1. Must be a senior in high school

2. Must be a member in good standing of DQHYA/DQHA for the past three years

3. Must graduate from high school and be enrolled to college or trade school.

4. Must be a U.S. Citizen

5. Must complete application in full accompanied by the following documents:

· High school transcript

· Birth record

· Letter of recommendation from person other than family member

· Letter of admission/acceptance from college

*  Scholarship is non-renewable
